What we have these days is that there is a shift in focus from Jesus Christ the author and finisher of our faith to our spiritual leaders. The leaders themselves often encourage this hero worship through a "Father in the Lord" syndrome. Yes, we need fathers but Paul counselled us to seek out those whose lives are in conformity with the Word of God. The excessive expectation of the people on their leaders often cause them to err in the sense that when they do not have a specific word from the Lord on a matter, they are not humble enough to tell their followers, God has not spoken to me on this matter yet. They then resort to fleshly means to give the people what they want. It is at this stage that the spirit of sorcery comes in. When this happens once,twice, it becomes perpetuated and the whole congregation takes on the nature of the lying spirit. It is high time we as God's children obey the word as laid out in 2Tim 2:15. We are to study (make every effort) to show ourselves approved unto God (not unto man), as workmen that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. We have all come under the attack of the spirit of sorcery at one time or the other. That spirit tries to gain control of our minds, thereby causing us to miss God's purpose for our lives. If the Devil knows he can't get you, he will try to make your time on earth as miserable as possible. We are not to give in to this. The Bible says, give no room to the devil (Eph4:27). All the things thrown at us by the media are all part of this strategic move of the devil by unleashing the lying spirit of sorcery on earth in these last days. The media tries to control our lives, change our thinking pattern, define a new culture for mankind. Have you seen the new form of idolatry called "celebrity". Now our children no longer want to go to school or church. They just want to be celebrities. The lies are very obvious in the world but less so in the church. We are to be discerning. The delusional works in these movements often center upon ‘personal prophecies.’ These prophesies pump up the flesh and can be pure witchery at work. But my deeper concern is how those who call themselves Christians can be taken in by these things. It disturbs me greatly.

Years ago when I left the Pentecostal church and lived a self-willed life, I consulted with a medium who while demonically possessed would tell me half truths about my father who had gone home to be with the Lord. There was much amazement, but shortly thereafter I began to see my life take a slide with all manner of destructive force these demons that I welcomed in rained down on me. It took supernatural deliverance by the blood of Jesus, through the power of the Holy Spirit to also take me away from all forms of confusion. The Power of the Holy Spirit is always victorious over all forms of spirit oppression, but I had to recognize what I had surrounded myself with and trust in Christ to sprinkle me with His blood at the cross.
