Comments, Observations and Musings on the Journey of Life

Hear the trumpet sounding…

Journal,

Some many years ago the Lord began giving me songs, and each song carried a message from heaven. It was sort of like preaching the gospel in music.

Because I knew where the songs came from, it was my desire to make them available to anyone who would benefit from them. I did two things. First, I made a pledge in my heart to provide 200 CDs of my music as a free gift to whoever would like to have them. And so, in our 25th Christian Challenge Jubilee, I did just that.

The second thing that we did was to make my songs available through our web site. These songs can be downloaded and used freely. (Of course they are copyright so I ask that no money be involved in the use of the songs.) To review my music go to:

Here is one of the songs that you may like to listen to. It is called ‘Year of Jubilee.’  - It is one of my favorites -

God’s Jubilee Message…

Jesus asked the attendant for the scroll of Isaiah. This is where He began to read:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”

“And He closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, ‘Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.’”(Luke 4:18-21 nasb)

The ‘favorable year of the Lord’ was a term that expressed kingdom time. There was an allusion here to the Old Testament ‘year of Jubilee,’ that is, the 50th year, when the trumpet was blown and liberty was proclaimed throughout the land. The slaves were to be set free, all debts were to be remitted, and the restoration of lands was to be given back to the original family owners.

On the first day of the year of Jubilee, the priests would go throughout the land with the sounding of trumpets, declaring the blessing of the Jubilee year.

The year of Jubilee has a special Messianic meaning. It directed attention to the coming of Messiah.

The gospel message can be likened to a trumpet sounding our freedom in Christ…

Perhaps the saddest time in all of redemption history was when Israel rejected her King. In doing this she also rejected her Jubilee freedom, and has lived in bondage ever since. The Bible tells is that God wept over Jerusalem. (If you don’t know that Jesus is truly God, then you need to know this above all things.)

It says,

“When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, ‘If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes. For the days will come upon you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, and surround you and hem you in on every side, and they will level you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.‘” (Luke 19:41-44)

How about you? If you have not already called upon Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, today could well be your day of visitation. Listen to the trumpet sound. Jesus Christ is saying that He loves you and He wants you to be free in Him.

The key to salvation is to believe in Him and forsake your old life of sins. He wants to give you a new life.

Here is God’s promise to you:

“But what does it say? ‘The message is near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart.’ This is the message of faith that we proclaim: If you declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For a person believes with his heart and is justified, and a person declares with his mouth and is saved.

“For the Scripture says, ‘Everyone who believes in him will not be ashamed.’ For there is no difference between Jew and Greek, because they all have the same Lord, who gives richly to all who call on him. For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’” (Rom 10:8-13 ISV)

Just remember that it is not about which religion you belong to. It is all about Jesus Christ. You want to belong to Him. And He will tell you which flock you need to be in.

Think about it.

Buddy
