Think I may have unraveled a puzzle…
Filed in General |Journal,
Thinking back on my Navy days in the Philippine Islands, there was something I saw that has troubled me all these years. Some of we sailors were at a carnival and in one booth was the tiniest man and woman I had ever seen. They could not have been much over a foot tall.
I’d never seen humans that small. These tiny people were dressed up in wedding clothes, but were asleep. Because of their movements there was no question that they were real people. But it troubled me. Under the circumstances there was no way to communicate with them. And being of a tender heart, I wondered if they were being mistreated.
The point is that I had never even seen a midget (think they prefer being called ‘little people.’) anywhere near that tiny. These little people appeared more like pixies. They were a handsome couple, like perfect little dolls. (Not pudgy. More like Barbie dolls.)
Well, I think I got my answer. While reading the Drudge Report yesterday, I saw an article entitled, ‘World’s smallest girl proud of her tiny size.’ And there was a picture of a 15 year old girl who was 1 foot, 11 inches tall. When I saw the picture my thoughts went back to the Philippines, and to that beautiful little couple.
Here is a picture of Jyoti Amge, with classmates her age. Notice how she bearly reaches their knees.
This is some of what the article read:
At just 1 ft 11 in tall … but Jyoti Amge is 15 years old.
The teenager, who is the world’s smallest girl according to the Indian Book of Records, has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia. Now fully grown, she weighs just 11 lb.
Far from being unhappy about her tiny size, Jyoti says that she enjoys the celebrity status her height has brought her.
“I am proud of being small. I love the attention I get,” she told the Sunday Mirror.
“I’m just the same as other people. I eat like you, dream like you. I don’t feel any different.”
Like any other teenager, she loves listening to pop music and watching DVDs and even hopes to become a Bollywood actress.
So, why did it trouble me so much? Oddly enough, I wondered if there was some form of witchcraft involved. I’ve seen some very strange things in my world travels. Isn’t the Lord good to give us the proper answers that we need.
Ok, now on to a more serious matter…
Have you ever powdered the back end of an alligator…
Lots of folk aren’t privy to the secret weapons that we southern Cajun-like Louisianans have in store. In fact the way we whopped the British in the war of 1814, was by bringing out one of our most treasured secret weapons.
You old timers ought to enjoy this…
Sorry. Jest had to do that. Guess its that Carver/O’Banion blood stirring up again. Course I’m not really sorry.
An interesting thing happened just this morn…
When I answered the front door, there stood a brother-in-the-Lord that I hadn’t seen in awhile. He had heard about my healing. We talked about that for a bit. But that wasn’t his purpose. Making a long story short, he said that a large team of Christians was going to Brazil in July, and they need more preachers. Wanted to know if I’d consider going with them. Wow, I was honored that someone would want me to be part of the evangelism team.
All this is well and good. And I’m moved that someone would like me to be part of a preaching team. But to be forthright, I’ve pretty much put my out-of-country traveling days on the back burner. Not even sure I’m up to another trip
where the wearing out can be pretty intense. Just have to see where the Lord is in all this. After all, He is Lord. Or as Nathan says, ‘He is my Boss.’
Hm-mm. What’s next?
Ever heard song the, ‘A whole lot of shaking going on’…
No, I’m not going to sing the song.
Just wanted to share about the excitement taking place at Christian Challenge right now. Not only have we been going through an awesome growth period, but the ministry has been and is undergoing ministry transitions on several levels. One of the newest changes is that we will be installing home groups beginning in August.
In fact I recommend that my readers take time to listen to Nathan’s teaching from this past Sunday, entitled, ‘Doing Life Together.’ Go to:
http://christianchallenge.org/live/index.html
At the bottom on the page click on the window that says Sunday.
Anyway, it really is an exciting time for Christian Challenge. And its about time I leave off this blog.
Don’t ever forget,
A whole lot of love is coming your way,
Buddy
