Hi Cal,

You are most welcome for this entry. Looks like we started our day the same way, hand in hand with Amazing Grace.

"Can I ever NOT feel like John Newton [felt]?! What a paradox! I am always concious of my own natural born sinfulness and at the same time VERY much aware of the beauty of His grace in my heart! What a humbling and comforting reminder."

Hi Bud,

Thanks for your response.

Brother, you are describing the heart of a every true child of God. Simply read the biographies of the greatest saints, each of them acknowledges their struggles of life and with their own human nature. So, none of us is in this struggle alone.

Had an interesting thing happen this morning. In my morning devotions I am now in the gospel of Matthew. During my reading in Mattheew, a Scripture from another place kept coming to my mind -- I knew it was from the Lord. Here it is:

"For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace." Rm6:14

We are under the rule of grace. God's throne is called 'the throne of grace.' Grace will always rule in our lives, that is, yesterday, today and forever.

Love you brother,

Buddy

Donna,

Thank you for sharing part of your journey with 'grace.' I especially love what you said --

"when I told Nathan one Sunday morning, 'I’m such a sinner, and I don’t want to die and goto hell.” I at that moment began to realized how GRACE had saved me, protected me, and was going to keep me."

I agree with you on the movie. Everyone should see the film 'Amazing Grace.'

Blessings,

Dear Bro. Buddy,

I haven't replyed to a blog posting in some time but I was moved to do so today. I have been getting ready for finals and between it, work, my EMT-Basic refresher class, and (oh by the way) being Mackenzie's SUPER MOM, I admit I've been overloaded.
But I have experienced GRACE myself! I know that I have experienced this "gift" of God in the past but I don't I was able to really grasp on to the full measure of this "gift" until I rededicated my life to the Lord.
You see, I had for so long put that "still small voice" on the back burner and just went on with my life. But, Jesus never left ME! He was always there. (I just didn't realize it.)
But, when I told Nathan one Sunday morning, "I'm such a sinner, and I don't want to die and goto hell." I at that moment began to realized how GRACE had saved me, protected me, and was going to keep me.
I too saw this movie Bro. Buddy and it was a movie that I can recommend to all. (I admit I'm a history buff.) But that aside this movie taught me some things about one of my favorite hymns:

Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound! (The "sweet sound" is the "still small voice" I had ignored for so many years.)
That saved a wretch like me. (If it was up to truth I should have been tossed away years ago. But, Jesus had other plans for me.)
I once was lost but now I'm found. Was blind but now I see! (I realized in July of 2007 that when I came back to church that I was a lost person. But referring back to that Sunday morning that I talked to Nathan - this was the day I realized I AM FOUND! John 10:27)

I am so thankful that God is so more compassionate than I could ever be. Oh, but I long to be like him....

Your "restored" sister in Christ,

Donna

Your question, "Have you ever felt like John Newton?", brings another question to the mind of one who is very aquainted with sin. "Can I ever NOT feel like John Newton [felt]?!" What a paradox! I am always concious of my own natural born sinfulness and at the same time VERY much aware of the beauty of His grace in my heart!
What a humbling and comforting reminder. Thank you Bro. Buddy.
