Sure is quiet on the home front…

Journal,

I received such? sad news last evening. My cousin Nadine Furtado in California let us know that her husband Gary had passed. His battle with cancer ended with his departure to be with the Lord. (Nadine is my Uncle Grover’s daughter. Grover is my mom’s brother.) My heart really goes out to Nadine and her family. I sent her? our love and our prayers.?

Pretty quiet today. CJ and I decided to burn some trash.? It is such a treat to watch him? roll in the grass. Great Danes love the sun. During warm days, CJ will stretch? out in the sun. He holds his head so regal.

4 p.m. Helped Nathan load a dog pen from our back yard to use for Bella. (She is looking for a boy friend.)

Well, my Job devotions continue along the same vein. These three ‘friends’ are really setting themselves up for a strong rebuke from the Lord. Big mouth Eliphaz is at it again.

(Job 15:2) “Should a wise man answer with windy knowledge ang fill himself with the east wind?”

Eliphaz continues in verse 5 - “For your guilt teaches your mouth, and you choose the language of the crafty.”

The things? Job is accused of goes beyond imagination. He is even accounted guilty for the? loss of his children is So much for the bags of wind.? (His three friends that is.)

There is no question that Job has to struggle. But all this baggering does is bring us to the? one statement that speaks to Job’s true faith.? Let’s hear it again…

“As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last He will take His stand on the earth.” (Job 19:25)

This is where my devotion for today stopped. The next several chapters will be the same-o same-o. All this is reaching for a climax. These three accusers are going to face something they would rather not face.? Need to keep that under wraps for now.? :)

This morning I was thinking about? when the? desire to write? first stirred in my heart and mind. It goes back to? my Navy days as a radioman aboard the USS Calvert. (’62-’63) I well remember having had this strange notion to write a novel with the name ‘Cassandra.’ At the time I was pursuing avenues to education myself as an author.

Where the name for the novel came from is beyond me. It could have been from some of the literature I was reading.? The story was to be about a? wholesome young lady? who would make her mark on society. It would be her character and virtue that would become a? beacon of strength for? other young men and women. (Very much like my Betty.)

This was during a time when the Lord began to call my attention to Him. Just didn’t know how to find Him.

Anyway, that was my first inclination to begin writing.? That inclination has been with me ever since.

I’ve always been? impressed with people whose background is of the worse to be expected, and yet they become a sort of moral compass for others. Could it be that the Lord uses the? worst of backgrounds to paint his most beautiful pictures of grace?? When I look at myself, I have to say, ‘Lord, You brought me to Yourself. You can save anyone.

I think the apostle Paul agrees with this. Listen to this apostle:

“It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all. Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.” (1 Timothy 1:15,16 nasb.)

5:00 p.m. - Well, things have slowed down to a crawl. Time to close out? for the day. Have a blessed evening.

In the love of Christ,

Buddy
