I just need to study more, cousin. I don’t carry around any UNforgiveness in my own heart. I just try to not be with people that are angry, or living in the state of requiring or asking for forgiveness just to repeat the same behavior that caused the problem in the first place. I can’t type/talk this way. NO need to answer this reply …. my response always “sounds” so harsh …. I don’t mean for it to …. your’s always sounds so sweet. Maybe I need to go eat pig’s feet.
I love you. Twyla

Twyla,

What I shared concering 'What would you request", was to be seen in a Christian context. I? used the Old Testament setting as a jumping pad to the gospels. Jesus often invited people to ask Him anything. But this receives an extra-special emphasis with the child of God. We are given special throne-room privileges.

With regard to forgiveness, this also has to be seen in a Christian context. For example, sinners of the world need to know that the Lord is not holding their sins against them, if they will receive Him as Lord and Savior.

You said you had a problem with forgiveness in that we must judge the actions of people. There is so much we need to learn about forgiveness. Only the Lord can teach us.

The point is that when we harbor unforgiveness, it doesn't necessarily hurt the other person. But it can become an issue of bitterness in our own life. The Bible calls it a defilement.

I saw your list. :)

You may wish to revise it a bit after some more study. My take on this is that I've learned to forgive people regardless. It doesn't matter to me if they deserve it or even ask for it. What matters to me is my own heart.

See what I mean Vern?

Love you little cousin girl,

2:4 “Then the king said to me, ‘What would you request?’ So I prayed to the God of heaven.” .. That verse puzzles me, Buddy, I don't get this one. I shall re reread in my bible and see if I can understand it better. Thank you for sharing these daily journals with us.

Secondly, about forgiveness .... I have a problem with some of this. I think we must judge the actions of people ... that keeps us on the right track. And forgiveness I think is a wonderful thing, but it must be accompanied by an agreed upon solution. The person who needs to be forgiven must do three things:
1. Take responsibility for what they did.
2. Repent and apologize and back it up with
3. Repairing the misdeed, whatever is necessary.
I believe one should not carry around hurt, anger like a sack of rocks waiting to forgive .... but one cannot move on if the "offender" is unwilling to participate. AAaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh ! I am rambling. See! This is why I just say "Thanks" for your daily missives. I have once again ignored the first rule of "HOLES" .... "When you find yourself in one --- stop digging!" I've just put down my shovel.

God bless you. Keep learnin' me.

Gene,

Thanks for telling me about your inspiration to keep a journal. You'll do this not just for yourself but also for you wife, your children, grandchildern, and many others. Most folk have very little in writings from their parents. Your journal will be a treasure.

We will most surely keep an eye on Jon. Your son is one of the most respectful young men that I've even know. He is a joy to have on staff. Don't ever worry about him.

You and Salley make a trip down this way as soon as you can. Mi casa es su casa.

Blessings,

Pas. Buddy, I get blessed with reading what the Lord has given you over the years. You are inspiring me to keep a ministry journal, though I would have to go back over 30 years of ministry. What a wonderful trip it has been. Not even a small desire togo back to what I was or thought I was. God's been too good to me. He saved me, gave me a preciously wonderful wife, and some pretty awesome sons, too. Their girls are something else, too. anyway, your things was with outhouses, mine was either when I'm in the car by myself or when I'm working on the yard. These are the times when He really speaks to me. Of course I preached some pretty mean sermons there, too! I don't get to read all of the updates that you send, but the ones I do get to read bless me much! Keep an eye on Jon! Love and prayers to You, Sis. Betty, Nathan, and the entire church!
In Christ,
Gene & Sally Martinez
