I had a dream last night…

Filed in NHL |

Journal,

What sweet peace. I got out of bed about 7:30 a.m., which a bit later than usual. And on top of that I had a dream from the Lord last evening. (God has often dealt with me in dreams and visions. Guess it goes with the turf of being a servant.)

Anyway, I saw peoples streaming into Christian Challenge. A number of them were people that I had been witnessing to of late. One thing that stood out was when I saw Greg Frick, one of our wandering lambs, making his way (at a run) towards the congregation. He? simply dove into a baptismal pool that we had in the midst of the flock. (Greg also had a friend with him but I knew in the dream that the friend would need further instructions in the way of the Lord.)

I called Tina at Bud’s and Bloom’s to share my dream. Ask her to pass it on to Greg.

Tis been a wonderful morning. The phone rang and my favorite uncle in all the world, Uncle Cullen Ray Carver, was on the other end. (He is not a favorite in the sense of loving him more. All the Carver family, which is my mother’s people, are loved equally.)

Uncle had just returned from a voyage. He had to battle a sickness all the while at sea. (Not sea sickness.) Was he ever glad to be home. While we chatted, his bird in the background tried to horn in on the conversation. Can you imagine having a bird for a buddy? That’s the way it goes with the Carvers. Very unique, interesting, mysterious, and loving people.? :)

(If you don’t have a sense of? humor, don’t read what follows.)

Guess I’d better share this with you. I am chief of a little known Indian tribe, called ‘The Shiney-Hiney Suc-a-Tashe Indian Nation.’ My first cousin’s wife had been after me to make her a deaconess of this austere nation. So? I drawn up an official document that must be signed by two of our chiefs. Another chief, Lane Fletcher, will present it to her this weekend. Here’s how it reads…

Official Document of the Shiney-Hiney Suc-a-Tashe Indian Nation

Hear ye! Hear ye! Hear ye! (I mispelled ‘hear ye with ‘here ye.’ What a bummer.)

This is to declare that on December 22nd, in the year of our Lord, 2006, by full consent of the official tribal elders, one Bernett Fletcher was honorably decreed to be Head Deaconess of this austere nation. (Not to be confused with the Shiney-Hiney Suc-a-Squash Indian Nation.)

Signed by two chiefs…

Now, we are accepting new applicants to the tribe. You simply need to let it be known that you will be a faithful member of the Shiney-Hiney Suc-a-Tashe Indian Nation, and be willing for me to give you a new name; something like ‘Fuzzy toes’ or whatever.

Sorry folks - I just had to do that. I think it is the Carver blood in me.

Let’s see, what else? My whole morning has been pleasant. Got to visit with my buddy, Warren Spurgeon on the phone. If there was ever a sweet brother in the Lord, it is? he. Warren has such a tender heart. Talk about a man in love with Jesus, he is the man.

My sweet Betty got a case of cabin fever. She’s on the road again. Course I think she has a bit of Christmas shopping on her mind.

That’s it for now. Love all of you.

Buddy

The Shiney-Hiney Suc-a-Tashe Indian Nation … what a well kept little secret. You never spoke a word of it and all the while being nagged about what tribe and how do we document it …. So when I say I think you are brave …. I could mean a brave or are you strictly the Chief. God bless you, Buddy …. you are a treasure and an oasis from the chaos. Thanks. Twyla

    Twyla,

The secret IS hush hush. We are very exclusive with regard to membership. The only documentation available is through this blog. Actually if we added three more members we would double the tribe. :)

Actually I am the Chief. Then we have another Chief. Then we have our Head Deaconess.

Thanks sis. Once again, I will never forget our trip to Oregon. You are Ross showed such charm and love to Betty and me. Can’t wait until you fly your airplan down Pineville way.

    Take care,

    Buddy

    Tina,

The dream was of the Lord. Just keep it in your treasure chest of God’s goodness. You will see your children serving the Lord.

Sis, being a father to you has been a great honor for me. Betty and I fell in love with you and your two kids the first time we met you. You are a very special lady. The Lord hand-picked you to be His own.

Actually there is something about your entire family that has always intrigued me. (Course I don’t know all of your family.) I see a trait in you, in your children, and in Vera that captures my heart. You are all generous and so loving. But I think it is the tenderness I see in you that gives me pause. (You’ve had to fight many of your own battles by yourself, yet you’ve proved what you are made up. How many young women could have birthed a business like you have, with so little to begin with, and see it continue to prosper. ‘With the help of the Lord.’)

Then there is Vera. She has been a joy in my Shepherd’s Heart class. Vera is like a sponge and always does her homework.

How about that Greg. He is a world to himself. I’ve never seen Greg when he wasn’t laughing. I can pick on him to my heart’s content and he just laughs. (Not a disrespectful laugh. Just one of those ‘you tickle my funny bones’ laugh.)

Thank you sis for writing. It warmed my h eart.

Love you much more than mucho.

    Buddy
